RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

The purpose of this position is to provide guidance, direction and oversight to underground crews operating at the job site.  This position will be expected to promote an emphasis on creating a team oriented, positive work environment which promotes a culture of safety and open communication. Tasks which are expected to be performed include but are not limited to;

  • Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair of underground installation work

  • Capable of leading underground service crew to complete infrastructure and duct bank install

  • Supervises crew and demonstrates working knowledge of leadership and management skills

  • Possess the ability to supervise multiple crews operating on a single job

  • Capable of leading and training lower skilled employees in safe and productive work procedures

  • Capable of planning safe work based on a job print or work order

  • Coordinates and inspects the work of crew members

  • Conducts pre-job or tailgate briefings

  • Ensure inspections status; scheduled and completed

  • Possess the ability and understanding of in-building install and layout needs that take advantage of the use of under slab and underground installation methods

  • Possess a working knowledge of all aspects of underground distribution, under slab layout, site layout and has a firm understanding of in-building install and needs related to underground layout

  • Troubleshoots problems on underground raceways and circuits

  • Understands how to safely operate equipment

  • Maintains company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order

  • Ensure special equipment needs are requested

  • Ensure project bench marks are achieved and job schedule is maintained

  • May attend project meetings and communicate information to PM and job foreman

  • Provide assistance and oversight of safety initiatives and ensure a safe work environment for all personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position will require experience working in field install and operations, primarily in the construction and service of the commercial electrical industry. Experience with job site layout based upon plan takeoff and interpretation are critical to this position. Experience with excavation operations and the various associated equipment is a must as well as experience working as an equipment operator. Experience with trade inspections, dealing with various jurisdictions and inspectors are also requirements of this position. While formal education is not a requirement for this position, associated trade certifications are beneficial. The individual should also demonstrate strong leadership, supervisory, communication and problem solving skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position should be able to sit, bend, stoop and lift items which occasionally exceed 50 pounds. This position should also be able to climb, crawl and squat as the job demands. The work environment is outdoors in all type weather to include extreme heat and cold. The individual is exposed to extreme conditions of a construction site such as loud noise, dusty environments, moving mechanical equipment, vibration of mechanical equipment.

PRIMARY WORK SITE

This position will be a field deployable resource and will be assigned to working job sites for the purpose of coordinating and overseeing activities of the crew members under the supervision of this position.
